Mens Report 2009-10
2009-10 has been a difficult season for the Men’s Section of the Club, although great strides have been made in bringing on Colts and giving them league experience. This can but bode well for the future.
The reorganisation of the South League meant that the 1st XI had much stronger opposition but managed a creditable 8th position. They are looking for a new coach and hopefully with the new dressed sand pitch in place, will be able to recruit some good players and once again challenge for promotion.
The 2nd XI found themselves punching well above their weight and were relegated, whilst the 3rd XI were comfortably placed in 5th position. Both teams included a number of colts and both can look to be stronger next year. The 4th XI were relegated after a poor season, but with Nick Ross taking sole charge, they should be well placed to bounce back. The successes of the year were the 5th XI who gained promotion on the last day of the season. Majid has done well and engendered a good team spirit which will help next season in the higher Surrey Open Division in which they are now placed.
The Veterans (Over 40s), Pitts (Supervets) and The Warriors (Friendly League) all enjoyed themselves but look for new members to help improve for next season.
Top Squad Training will be on Tuesdays next season, whilst the Club Session is being moved to Thursday. This will help increase income from letting the pitches to outside users. It is also hoped the new sessions will be more convenient and well supported.
All teams would like to feel there is a star player out there just waiting to play for them. Is that you? We would love to see you. Please complete a Club Membership Form and bring it with you to trials or to your first training session.
